DCFFL GAME RULES - Coaching

Coaching:

Coaching youth sports is one of the most rewarding experiences adults and volunteers are able to experience. With DCFFL we make sure our coaches have all the tools necessary to properly manage their team practice cadence, general football skillset, and team communication.

Coaches are often volunteer parents or family members whom have a player on the team and have general knowledge of football. We give resources that will teach the rest!

The coach is responsible for directing the teams practice and play in games.

Coach Responsibilities Include:

Set a good example for youth players during games/OTA's

Set practice times and location.

Communicate practice and upcoming game times once per week.

Encourage POSITIVE parent involvement in both practice and at games.

Give each child an opportunity to improve their skillset and enjoy game time.

Have fun with the kids.

Ensure your team understands game conditions and equipment requirements.

DCFFL is all about player safety. Therefore, DCFFL provides all coaches a background check at no cost to them through our USA football registration. Coaches will also receive the following at no cost:

Official NFL FLAG Coaches Certification (Valid as long as you coach with DCFFL)

Official Concussion Certification (Valid for as long as you coach with DCFFL)

Coaches are only allowed on the field to direct players in the 6U & 8U age divisions.

Only (1) coach may be on the field at a time.

Coaches are only allowed to walk the sideline in 10U, 12U, and 14U age divisions.

Coaches MUST follow the league code of conduct at all times as agreed when registering.

Remember it is all for the kids.

Ball Requirements:

DCFFL will provide each coach with 1 football. Teams can also provide their own to use during practice or during games as long as it fits the following size for each age division:

6U & 8U divisions - Pee Wee size football - Blue Ball

10U, 12U & 14U divisions - Junior size football - Brown Ball

Any team using the wrong size football will result in a forfeit the possession/that possessions points earned.
