DCFFL Mission
Posted Dec 12, 2018

The National NFL Flag Football program, which was launched over 20 years ago, is designed to educate young people about football, while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. The program is very popular in the Unites States and has been very successful in many locations. Our goal is to give local Booster Clubs and surrounding area players a competitive and fun-filled NFL Flag Football experience.

Participants will be coached to develop their skills in passing, catching, ball carrying, defensive coverages, and route running without the fear of being hit. Have your child develop a love for the game of football and determine the best position for his or her skill set. Let your child build confidence, learn how to work with a team, master the plays of the game, and most of all develop a love for the game of football. We will also cover other important aspects of the game of football.

The time commitment of this league is limited (2 hours a week minimum - 1 for practice during week, 1 for game on weekend). This time commitment hopefully allows our players to develop critical football skills without interfering with other weekend activities. The most important thing is that DCFFL will be fun for everyone involved in the league.

Flag Football gives every child the chance to be an IMPACT PLAYER!

Kids of all sizes are throwing and catching the ball, making interceptions, pulling flags on defense and running for 50-yard touchdowns - all while having a good time, making friends, getting exercise and having fun! (DAVIDSON COUNTY FLAG FOOTBALL is a fast-paced, exciting game!)

- Flag football may be a non-contact sport but this sport requires the same focus and concentration as playing tackle football on every play.

POSITION SKILLS:

Quarterbacks: learn how to make independent decisions and call plays at the line of scrimmage. The quarterback can't run, so coaches teach them how to be smart with the football and create opportunities for their teammates.

Running Backs: handoffs, pass catching, juking, score touchdowns!

Wide Receivers: learn how to run pass routes, create seperation, and make great catches!

Defensive Backs: running with and covering wide recievers in man-to-man or zone coverages.

Defensive End: pass rush and sack quarterbacks by pulling flags!

-Additional Benefits:
Self-reliance and leadership skills are gained in small-group settings.
Friendships are also formed, and teams can play together year after year.
Everybody that plays always has a positive experience, and the rules are designed to keep children playing every year.
